What Causes A Red Rash On The Hand After Taking Bactrim And Fluconazole?
Question: I took Bactrim 800-160 for ten days starting 2-9-17. I also took Fluconazole for 7 days starting 2-9. I got a shingles shot on 2-16. On 2-17, I developed a fairly mild red rash on the back of my hands, and a little itch around eyes. I saw doctor on 2-24 for other reasons and mentioned rash. She seemed curious but not unduly concerned--said to come back if it got worse. It seems to be subsiding. Should I have any concern about this rash? Should I do anything else?
Brief Answer:
Seems to be drug rash, no need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and it seems you most probably developed a drug rash.
Since its subsiding and you have already stopped the medicines their is no need to worry.
You can apply some soothing lotion like calamine lotion on the affected areas twice daily.
If the rash is associated with itching take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime.
