default
Posted on Thu, 9 Mar 2017
Question: My grandson is 3 years old and has a red rash in his under chin area. It is warm to the touch and you can feel some lumps. I noticed it a few days ago and it seems to be more noticeable each day. I also think the area looks a bit swollen.

Brief Answer:
It may be cellulitis(localized inflammation due to infection)

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome to HCM

Red swelling which is warm to touch and progressively increasing gives a clue towards the localized infection of skin(cellulitis).
Cellulitis is usually caused by some bacterial infection and I won't get overly worried as it can be treated well with oral antibiotic.
As skin lesions are better diagnosed by direct clinical examination I would request you to consult a pediatrician for clinical examination.
I hope this helps.
I shall be glad to help you out if you have any other questions.
Wishing for your child's good health.
Regards
