What Causes A Red Spot On The Neck When Diagnosed With UTI?

Hello Doctor-
I am recently diagnosed UTI.
The urine culture identified E Coli bacteria.
My doctor prescribed me an antibiotic called - Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium Tablet (875 mg/125 mg).
I'm supposed to take the medicine 2 times a day for 10 days.
I started taking first dose on Monday (7/31/17) night. So far (8/2/17) have taken total of four tablets.
I noticed a light red color spot of quarter size on my neck today afternoon. It went away in 15-20 minutes.
I again noticed a light red color spot of quarter size on my neck today in the evening time and also noticed another light red color patch right under it on the chest area.
They both went away in 20 minutes. None of them were painful or itchy.
I have following concerns-
1) Was that red spot or patch a rash?
2) Was it a reaction of the antibiotic I'm taking?
3) Do I need to stop taking the antibiotic?
4) How do I identify a rash on the body from antibiotic reaction? (I never had rash before, so don't know how it really look)
I'll greatly appreciate your prompt response.
Thanks for your time and expert advice!
Regards

Skin rash
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
Amoxicillin can cause allergic reaction but the reaction comes with the very first dose. As you have said that the skin rash comes and disappear in sometime, it is probably an allergic response to something. The best would be to change the antibiotic group you are taking and observe if still you have the rash. For UTI , you can take tablet ciprofloxacin 500 twice daily for a week .
Take a tablet levocetrizine for allergy.
All the medicines I have prescribed will be available at prescription only.
It would be better if you can send me the pictures of your rash when it appears.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards

My doctor told me that - I was prescribed Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium Tablet because the other antibiotics like Cipro etc. are resistant to E Coli.
The urine culture identified E Coli bacteria.
Could the rash from drug reaction be short-lived and comes and go away?

Hi
Thanks for the information.
You can take amoxicillin plus clavulinuc axis with an anti allergic tablet like levocetrizine once daily but if still the skin rash appears, the medicine must be changed. You can get a culture sensitivity of the urine done to see the effective antibiotics.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards
