What Causes A Small Soft Pus Filled Sac Near The Anus?
Question: Hi, I have a small, soft sac that feels like its filled with fluid near my anus. It's hard to tell, but there may be two or more of them. At first I thought it was 4th degree internal hemorrhoids, but now I think it might be something else (hopefully something less serious). There also appears to be yellow spots in the area today that I hadn't noticed before. I'm not suffering any pain or itching to speak of, but I can tell it's there when I sit and walk. There's also occasionally been bright red blood on the toilet paper after I go to the bathroom, but that doesn't always happen. The blood has been happening for at least two months. What's going on and how do I treat it?

I am sorry to hear that you found some abnormalities around your rectal area. From your description you have hemorrhoids. These are varicose veins that appear around the anus. They are caused by straining while going to the bathroom or straining during exercise. They are completely benign. The best treatment is to make sure you have soft easy to pass stools. The minute you need to push to have a bowel movement the hemorrhoid will restart. To help right now I recommend getting a sitz bath. You can find them at pharmacies. Or you can just sit in a hot tub and allow the area to soak and get clean. You can also use hemorrhoid creams or suppositories. Rarely do they need to be surgically removed. I do not think you have anything dangerous here. The prior bleeding was coming from the hemorrhoids

Thank you for the fast answer, that's what I thought was going on. Ugh. It's a relief to hear that surgery is rarely needed though - I have been reading online that for stage four hemorrhoids surgery was usually needed - can you confirm that for me? I do have stage four, correct?
Also, with the baths, creams and change in diet (I've also added a fiber supplement to my diet), can I expect them to go away completely? Finally, do things like smoking, using chewing tobacco or drinking alcohol affect things?

Stage 4 is really bad large prolapsed hemorrhoids and does not usually occur at your age. I would recommend that you see your medical provider and see exactly where you are.
As for the alcohol, cigarettes or tobacco is that any one of these can cause constipation and if they do then I would not recommend using any of these agents. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING II TO NEVER GET CONSTIPATED OR STRAIN TO HAVE A BOWEL MOVEMENT. What ever may cause constipation in you avoid it.
