What Causes A Sudden Pain In Left Groin Area?

default
Posted on Thu, 10 Mar 2016
Question: while lying in bed, stationery (in the last half hour), I've experienced a sudden pain in my left groin area. It lingers, but is subsiding and has taken on a warm feeling although it is not to the touch. My concern is possibly a burst blood vessel or clot.

Brief Answer:
Inguinal hernia can be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms are not characteristic for any blood vessel burst or clot. Moreover, blood vessels do not burst just like that.
Most probable reason of your symptoms is inguinal hernia. If so, coughing can cause the pain aggravation.
If you have any back pain spine issues (including spine disc herniation) can be the reason. In such case, the pain tends to radiates to the leg.

If you have also frequent urinating, burning while urinating, kidney stone can be the case.

I suggest you to have groin ultrasound done. If its hernia, this should diagnose it.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
