Question: I had a hard fall on my elbow 3 weeks ago. Extensive bruising has resolved but now there is a 1inch ball sized lump. No discoloration, some mild tenderness, full range of motion. Treating with heating pad 20 on/off... Recommendations? 40yo male, otherwise healthy.

Brief Answer:
You have collection of fluid in olecranon bursa

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I believe that you are having collection of fluid in your olecranon bursa. This is due to injury to elbow. I have following suggestions for you.
1.Needle aspiration of the fluid is needed as it is not going to absorb by its own. It will be a minute procedure and it can be done by orthopaedic doctor. After that compression bandage is applied so that swelling does not recur.
2.no need for hot water fomentation, rather apply ice.
3.Take Brufen 400 mg if pain is there.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
