What Causes A White Patch Inside The Lower Cheek?

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Jun 2017
Question: Hello! About two days ago i noticed a small white patch inside my lower cheek, and am attaching an image of it. It was difficult for me to get a good picture of it, but if you look at my lower teeth and count up to the fourth from the bottom, the white patch is to the left of that tooth. I've actually just had my routine dental exam and quite honestly, I'm not sure if the area was there at the time otherwise I would have pointed it out to my dentist. It seems that when I drink coffee it tends to turn yellowish and I can actually scrape it off. It then has reappeared (again, I've only had it for about three days now). Any idea of what it could be? I've been having anxiety a bit lately and have noticed that I've been clenching my jaw and biting my lips and gums more frequently. Thank you!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

Thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic.
This is Dr. Priyanka Tiwari answering your query.

I have read your query as far as scrapable small white patch inside lower cheek is concerned that can be Fordyces granules . There is nothing to be worried .Fordyces spots are nothing but normal variations of sebaceous glands (glands that normaly producing sebum) . Sometimes sebaceous spots cause anxiety but they are completly harmless.
Can you upload image of small white patch in report section that will be more helpful for me to arrive at conclusion and give you proper diagnosis .
Based on details provided i will suggest you dont take stress and you can take medicine like vitamin B complex with folic acid .
Awating for picture to comment further.

Hope this will help you .

Thanks so very much Dr. Tiwari! I appreciate your expertise and reassurances! One last question ....I'm attaching an image of my mouth and I think I have angular chelitis....it comes and goes over the past few months. Is there any suggested treatment?

Brief Answer:
Angular chelitis , treatment .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome again

I have read your query and gone through the image you have attached . As far as i have noticed yes it seems like Angular chelitis . For this i would suggest an oral B-complex vitamin + Zinc supplement (Cap Becosule-Z) once daily for 3-4 weeks.

Topically you could apply a mild steroid + antifungal combination cream e.g Eumosone- M cream OR Clotrin- B cream, twice daily for 7-10 days.

That should make it fine
Hope i have answered your query .
If you have further query i will be happy to help.

Regards
Dr. Priyanka tiwari .
