What Causes Abdominal Pain And Diarrhea?
Question: Hello Doctor,
The case is related to my maid age 30 years who was suffering from fever last month along with some coughing. Her general health was not well in last 15 days but gradually it has improved. Initially doctors thought it was dengue as her platelets count was low and was having loose motion but later it was not to be. She is complaining for abdominal pain.
I have attached her ct scan report so requesting you to kindly guide about what she is suffering from and the treatment required
Thanks

Brief Answer:
it is tuberculosis only
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, thanks for your reply.
I have gone through CT THORAX report. It is classical of TB involvement of lungs, pleura and mediastinal lymphnodes.
Cavitory lesion with cavitation, tree in bud appearance with preference to upper lobes and apical segments of lower lobe are classically seen in Pulmonary TB .
Necrotic mediastinal lymphnodes are again seen in TB.
Loculated pleural effusion ia also a supporting evidence of TB.
So better to get done sputum for AFB (Acid Fast Bacilli) and also culture and sensitivity to rule out drug resistant TB.
Consult pulmonologist and start Anti Tb Treatment as soon as possible.
Along with this she needs nutritional support in the form of high protein diet and multivitamins. Give her mask to wear, so that she doesn't not spread the disease by coughing.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your maid. Thanks.
