What Causes Abdominal Pain And Loose Stools After Taking Ciprofloxacin?
Question: I was prescribed with Apo-ciproflox 500mg tablets and experienced watery diareah on the second day of taking the medication. It has been several days since and it has become mild to normal but i am having pains in my sides. Is this related to the medication and should i be concerned? I have not taken the medication in 14 hours
Brief Answer:
May or may not be related...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Ciprofloxacin is listed to cause abdominal cramps and loose stools either due to intolerance or due to loss of bacterial commensal. I am glad you have no more loose stools. If those flank cramps are not severe, you may wait for another week with pre and probiotic supplements.
In the meantime, let me know if you have any other symptoms such as nausea, fever, increased urination, burning sensation while passing urine.\
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards
