Chronic low-grade indigestion and flatulance; get tests done
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in Healthcaremagic.com.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.
I understand your concern.
Thank you for providing a detailed history.
You are having a chronic low-grade indigestion and associated flatulance. The constipation adds to your problem.
In such cases, I advise the following-
Diet modification- avoiding rich spicy food, taking lots of water and dietary fibers, avoiding alcohol and smoking if any.
Taking small frequent meals increase digestion and helps keep away such issues.
Exercises- regular exercises like brisk walking, swimming, cycling enhances metabolism.
Pantoprazole-levosulpiride daily for about a month will be very helpful.
Lactulose syrup or ispaghula husk before bed as and when required for constipation.
Antacids containing simethicone, probiotics or activated charcoal might help relieving flatulance problems.
Now you should get an ultrasound abdomen done. Colonoscopy or other studies can be done later if required. A stool test, a complete blood count, liver function test etc should be done to rule out any other causes.
Chances of cancer seem unlikely till now. So dont worry. All other medicines can be continued.
You can consult your treating or family doctor and get the above prescribed.
Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.

imaginary pain is not impossible
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for writing back.
Well one might not have pain actually but may feel like he is in distress. This is purely psychological and yes, there are many such people, we call them hypochondriac.
But in case of chronic indigestion and flatulance, occasional abdominal pain is not uncommon.
So you might really have mild to moderate pain and it may not only be a feeling of pain.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
