What Causes Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding After Ablation?
Question: I am 48 with sporadic bleeding. No pain.. I have had an ablation nine years ago and this just started happening for about 5 months off and on? It appears that I have my (spotting brown blood)cycle off and on for about 2 weeks sometimes and then nothing til next month.. which may be normal or not. Is this a sign of cancer?
Brief Answer:
Need to get examined by your doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns about bleeding on and off.
Following is my reply:
1) Bleeding on and off after ablation could be due to various reasons.
2) You need to get examined by your doctor about the possibility of cervical erosion and uterine polyp / fibroid. The possibility of cancer still exists and can only be ruled out by examination.
3) I suggest you get examined by your doctor and get an ultrasound scan if needed to determine the cause of bleeding. An endometrial biopsy might be needed if ultrasound scan shows thick endometrium.
Let me know if you need anymore clarification.

Dr. Soumya
