What Causes An Occasional Feeling Of Strong Forceful Heart Beats?

Question: Thank you for contacting me. Since
the pharmacist switched my pills
back I am doing okay. I would like
to ask a question. Some years back
I was told I have an extra heartbeat.
My internest at the time, said unless
I was having other symptoms, I need not be concerned about it.
Ninety percent of the time I am not aware of it, but ten percent of the time I am very aware of it.
As a cardiologist, do you think I
should see someone in your field?

Brief Answer:
An occasional extra heart beat normally does not matter.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX welcome to HCM,
An occasional extra heart beat normally does not matter. But it also depends on where it comes in the ECG. If there is a condition called 'R on T' or they are coming in runs--you need to take special medication.
Is it possible for you to scan and send one ECG report that shows extra beats?
Meanwhile avoid tea, coffee, and smoking.
Metoprolol is a good drug for extra beats.
One solution is to increase Metoprolol if you are taking less than 50mg and reduce lisinopril and see whether it helps.
You can revert back.
Regards
