What Causes An Unusual Warm Sensation On The Calf?

default
Posted on Sat, 14 Feb 2015
Question: For several days now, and a few times a day, I have the feeling in my right leg calf that I am next to a heater. The feeling lasts about a minute. It isn't painful at all, just unusual. If this is a symptom of a blood clot what should I do about it?

Brief Answer:
Get a Colour Duplex Scan for Confirmation and extent of Clot.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

I understand your query and concern.

This sensation of unusual warmth in your calf could possibly relate to underlying thrombotic state.

This can be evaluated through Venous Colour Doppler Scan of both legs.

This has excellent sensitivity against picking up even minute blood clots as well.

Drugs particularly antiplatelets and low molecular heparin will help.

Intermittent Pneumatic compression devices and Compression Garments will help to prevent further clot formation.

Its important that you get this scan and Consult your Cardiologist for expert management.

Post your further queries,if any.

Thank you.
