Can Coumadin Or Lovenox Cause Blood In Semen Or Urine?

Can coumadin or lovenox cause blood in semen or urine. My husband had knee surgery and developed a DVT in the calf. He is taking both Coumadin and just stopped taking Lovenox. He was taking lovenox for about 10 days and he is still on the coumadin. He is a 47 year old male, 5 8 and 155 pounds.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, both Coumadin (warfarin) and Lovenox (enoxaparin) are blood-thinning medications that can cause blood in semen or urine as a side effect. This occurs due to their anticoagulant effects, which can increase the risk of bleeding from any part of the body.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
