What Causes Antibiotic Resistant Infection?

Question: my 18 y/o grandson has been sick off and on since October c/o sore throat,fever,nausea,vomiting ,his psoriasis has been erupted and will not clear up he has joint pain also. he has been treated for strep and the flu he has lost 10lbs he has been seen by his pcp and the emergency room physician no one is actually finding the cause they are treating the symptoms his temp will run between 102-104 he is good for about 2 weeks after the antibiotic and then we are back to square one sometimes he cannot eat for 2days and when he does eat he will get loose bowel movements immediately

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. If there is recurrent infection like in your grandson's case it suggests antibiotic(ABX) resistant infection. In such cases further workup like culture of throat swab and blood cultures are taken to confirm the type of organism and to the type of ABX it is resistant Along with ASO titer. I Would suggest you to visit hospital and get an appointment for a "Medical Specialist" ONLY for his case's discussion. He now requires one step higher consultation which can not be fulfilled by a GP. Meanwhile ask him to:

> Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Ask him to do gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.
> Give acetaminophen for fever

AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Drinks
> Spicy food
