Suggest Medication For Symmetrical Pain In Neck And Low Grade Fever

Hello--I have symmetrical pain at the back of my neck, a low grade fever--up to 100.7 orally. I can turn my head--I don t think it s meningitis. Age 69 weight 125, on Enbrel for a number of years for psoriatic arthritis. I thought this would start out as a cold or flu but didn t develop any respiratory symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Symmetrical pain in the neck and low-grade fever can be caused by various conditions, including viral infections, bacterial infections, autoimmune diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders. If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is important to see a healthcare provider who can evaluate your condition and provide a diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Treatment for symmetrical neck pain and low-grade fever may include over-the-counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, rest, and adequate hydration. If an infection is present, antibiotics or antiviral medication may be necessary. In some cases, prescription-strength pain medication or corticosteroids may be recommended.

It is important to follow your healthcare provider's instructions carefully and to continue taking any prescribed medication as directed. If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after a few days, be sure to contact your healthcare provider.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
