Brief Answer:
It can be taper down slowly

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I am glad to know that after years of use with various ADHD medications you decided to cut down on medications.

First of all I will suggest to deal things one after one order. It is never wise to deal with two medications at the same time as it increases the risk of withdrawal problems. I mean to say first deal with Xanax after interval of month or more take the withdrawal of Vyvanse.

Once you have decided to taper down the Vyvanse following are the options.

1. Col turkey method- In this there is immediate withdrawal of medication and expected withdrawal symptoms. They generally last for one to two weeks and after there are either minimal or nil withdrawal symptoms.

2. Tapering down slowly- This is more often recommended method as it takes care of expected discomfort experienced by the patient. Since there is years of use and high dose of Vyvanse you can go down by 5-10 mg every week. In case there ids withdrawal symptoms delay the further reduction by one week.

I also like to inform you that both of these methods are safe under supervision of your psychiatrist and can be done safely.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
