What Causes Asymptomatic Pink Colored Mole On Forehead?

Question: Greetings - I have a mole on my forehead (exact center). It is in exactly the same spot as XXXXXXX XXXX:

except it is slightly larger. I have attached a picture from the Internet that is very similar to what it looks like. At one point in the past, when I was young, it was a freckle. I don't remember when, perhaps 15-20 years or so ago, it changed into the mole it is now.

I never got it tested, it is painless, only botehrs me for cosmetic reasons, but I am wondering if I should get it tested, and how much would it cost to be removed (and what would the surgery be like). Thanks

Brief Answer:
Upload an Image of the actual skin lesion that you have

Detailed Answer:
Hello again. Thank you for writing to us

I have reviewed the Image.

A slowly growing, asymptomatic, pink, waxy, papule Or nodule on face can be a basal cell carcinoma (BCC), particularly in a white skin.
In BCC the surface is usually smooth unless it has ulcerated. Once it ulcerates it would have rolled out margins and is classically known as Rodent's Ulcer.

The image which you have posted seems that it also contains a central keratinous core.
If the skin lesion on your forehead also has a central keratinous/ rough, core it could be a keratoacanthoma.
Keratoacanthomas usually grow rapidly and it is unusual that there will be a long history of 15-20 years..

I think what XXXXXXX McGregor had on his face was a BCC.

I suggest you to upload a clear digital Image of the actual skin lesion present on your forehead.

Regards

Hi Doctor - I have uploaded a photo of the mole. Yes, I have had it for well over a decade - perhaps 2 decades. It has never bothered me otehr than cosmetically. I would like to know if you feel there is a danger and how can it be removed.

When I was younger it was a simple freckle.

Brief Answer:
Excision Biopsy; could be nodular type of BCC

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I suggest an Excision Biopsy. I will definitely keep Nodular type of Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) as a likely possibility.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist in your region for the needful
