What Causes Aura In The Field Of Vision While Experiencing Severe Migraine?

default
Posted on Wed, 3 May 2017
Question: I am 64 years old in excellent health. I am a mental health professional. Monday, for the first time in my life I had an aura on the left side of my visual field, but not followed by a headache. Early yesterday morning, I awoke with what I would call a migraine on the right side of my head, almost the side of my hand. I took pain relief and fell back to sleep. This morning I awoke with a sensation on the left side of my head, tightness and pressure. Last time I was at the doctor (sinus issue in January), my blood pressure was 146/80. No numbness anywhere, no dizziness. I just feel strange. I don't drink or do drugs. No Rx either. What do you think?

Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

New onset of neurological symptoms at your age warrants an evaluation by your Neurologist and brain imaging studies, in order to understand better your condition.

Neurological disorders to consider, include stroke, vascular malformations of brain, other brain lesions, etc.

Symptoms you describe may be related to seizures onset (or aura ) that may be related to these conditions.
