Brief Answer:
Need to rule out alarming causes ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and am here to help you till you reach satisfaction ma'am.

Some pain in the back and near the hip region is considered normal as your bones are adjusting to the changes after birth. But this pain is usually mild, even if it is constant. But pain lasting more than 2 weeks or severe should be reported to your doctor (either physician or obstetrician) at the earliest. Sometimws, during delivery some fractures or dislocations can occur and thus these need to be ruled out or looked into in your case ma'am.

As for the leg pain, I would like to know if you also have tenderness, swelling or redness anywhere in your leg. This could be a sign of a more serious condition called deep vein thrombosis. Pain management medication usually does not help to in such scenarios. Please make sure these are ruled out, and once they are we can only assume your body is trying to return to its pre-partum state and your symptoms shall soon subside.

It would be best for you to undergo an elaborate evaluation ma'am. We need to rule out all such causes which can be alarming, to assume your symptoms are harmless and accordingly treat them.

I hope you find my response helpful and informative ma'am. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Need to rule out DVT

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Standing for long durations and/or extra strain on the legs can both aggravate pain in a case of DVT. But this can also happen in an individual who has experienced a serious event like pregnancy and a delivery.

I would request you to visit your primary care physician or obsttrician for an elaborate evaluation, diagnosis and treatment accordingly if required.

If at all DVT has been accurately ruled out, then this is most probably just an attempt by your body to try to recover from the recent events. Once DVT is ruled out, you can request your doctor for a healthy protein rich diet and exercises to help your muscles recover from the atrophy developed during bed rest.

I hope you find my response helpful ma'am. I also wish and hope for the best for you, and hoping your symptoms are only mild without resulting in anything serious.

Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further assistance ma'am, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Pain killers need prescription; ENSURE protein

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

It was completely my pleasure.

Prescribing a pain killer should not b difficult, but taking into consideration your recent delivery and the possibility of DVT (yet to be ruled out), I would prescribe a combination of paracetamol and tramadol (available in the pharmacy in the form of brands names like tramacet). For more serious pain hydrocodone can be prescribed, but please do not take any of these medications without a prescription ma'am.

As for protein powders, ENSURE and REVITALITE are good brands ma'am.

Please do keep in touch and keep me informed about any developments and what your doctor has to say/prescribe.

Best of luck ma'am.
