What Causes Back And Rib Pain After Increasing The Dosage Of Erythromycin?

Question: I was prescribed erythromycin 250 mg yesterday I was told take 2 capsules 4 times a day. I have had two doses today and now have pains in my rib area and back. Im also 5 weeks pregnant
Brief Answer:
please provide more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
erythromycin is a category B drug which means that it can't be used during pregnancy when needed. Of course erythromycin and all other drugs should be avoided particularly during the first trimester unless they're absolutely necessary.
Why was it prescribed to you? Do you have pneumonia? Pneumonia may cause pain on the back and ribs. The pain usually gets worse with deep breaths. Please provide more information about your situation like:
- if you've got fever
- if you have cough
- if the pain gets worse with breathing movements
- if you know the diagnosis!
Kind Regards!

I tested positive for chlamydia. the pain is worse when I move around and is 2 capsules 4 times a day for seven days the right dosage
Brief Answer:
the dosage is right
Detailed Answer:
The dosage is right for chlamydia infection. Erythromycin is not supposed to cause chest problems. It may affect the liver though. If you're feeling pain on the lower part of your rib cage on the right then this is possible. Liver function tests may help detect such a complication. In any case since you're pregnant you should visiting doctor to clarify the situation to reduce the risk of problems to your fetus.
Kind regards!
