She has been diagnosed with esonophilic esophagitis/severe reflux. Her abdominal pain is lower and right of the stomach. She has had two plain film xrays and US of abdomen. Xrays showed constipation. We did cleanse. Fu xray showed mild constipation. She has daily bowel movements w/0 straining. However, since she was a baby she has always pooped deer pellets. She has a history hypercalcimia. She has three lesions on her thyroid. We have been watching them for several years now. The real concern we have tonight and for the past 6 weeks is the sudden onset of headache that does not resolve with meds and the spinal discomfort. She has lost her appetite and tonight she said she lost her vision and the collapsed on the floor. Her headache goes between a 5-9 on the pain scale. In six weeks she has not fallen below 5. She has not started her period. She has had a significant personality change. She does consume a lot of water.
Brief Answer:
Rule out refractive error of eye
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
Momentary loss of vision is likely to be due to postural hypotension or hypoglycemia. I hope there is no fever and absence of photophobia.
I would suggest you the following remedy
1. Do consult ophthalmologist to rule out any refractive error of eye which could because of persistent headache especially so if it’s in frontal region. Uncorrected refractive error of eyes is one of the commonest causes of headache in children
2. Blood sugar estimation: Both fasting and postprandial sugar
3. Ensure adequate intake of nutritious food
4. Avoid sleeping immediately after meals
5. Get blood pressure estimation done when she is symptomatic
6. High fiber diet: 2 servings of vegetable salad and citrus fruits will be helpful
After the cause of headache is evaluated by Pediatrician, she will further require assessment of abdominal pain. If all the investigation done so far are inconclusive and in view of persistent recurrent pain in abdomen, she will require further evaluation by Diagnostic Laparoscopy.
Do keep me updated about developments.
Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life
