Detailed Answer:
Welcome at HCM
I am Dr Saad Sultan and will be answering your query. I have read and understood your health concerns.
As far as bacterial sinusitis is concerned , it is mostly caused by streptococcus , moraxella caterrhals and H. Influenza bacteria. Augmentin is good antibiotics as it covers all of them but penicillin V do not.
Penicillin V should only be used in cases where there is culture proof of infection sensitive to it.
In my opinion you should visit ENT surgeon , you may need to get an x ray of paranasal sinuses. As far as antibiotics are concerned , clarithromycin is drug of choice for sinusitis and it has to be used for 7 to 10 days in order to clear infection.
Use saline gargles, anti allergic medications , steam inhalation and avoid cold exposure.
Hope your query is adequately addressed, feel free to write me on HCM any time.
May you get well soon
Regards
Dr Saad Sultan
