Brief Answer:
Sinus infection vs allergy

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with a bad smell coming from your sinuses/nose. This could be either due to a sinus infection or to allergies. The best thing to do is see your medical provider and have them look in your nose to see if it is allergy on infection. While you are waiting to be seen I recommend using flonase nasal spray OTC to help reduce any congestion and help with allergy. If it is infected you may need to be on antibiotics for 2-4 weeks.

You can't always tell from the drainage if someone has infection or allergy. Though a clear drainage is more indicative of allergies.

In summary
1. Possible sinus infection or allergies
2., If clear drainage then allergy
3. If green or colored could be either infection or allergy
4. Use flonase
5. See your medical provider 6
6. Treat for infection 2-4 weeks with antibiotics if infection

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
