What Causes Bad Taste In Mouth While On Levaquin For Bronchitis?
Question: I have had bronchitis for nearly a month; on my second course of Levaquin. About 4 days ago, I started having a bad taste in my mouth, and I felt like everything smells like smoke/cigarettes. (I don't smoke).
Could this be a side effect from the antibiotics, please? I also take meds for other stuff.

Brief Answer:
Yes Levaquin causes this.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Levaquin that contains Levofloxacin is known to cause nausea, vomitings, bad taste and even dry mouth.
So probably you have those effects as a result of Levaquin only.
I would recommend in such case to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone along.
This would go away in 2-3 days of stopping the antibiotics.
In some people the cough of bronchitis itself causes such bad taste.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
