What Causes Blackish Discoloration On The Sides Of A Used Tampon?
Question: Hello,, Im 48 years old. I started my period about 11:30 am today. was changing my tampon at 7:30 pm and noticed there was what looked like black mold all down one side of it, and spots on the back of that side. It was a cardboard applicator with a paper cover (CVS super brand). What would cause that? I have never seen anything like this since my first period 34 years ago.
Brief Answer:
possibly infection or old dark blood
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
It is suggested that you should get a high vaginal swab culture and pap smear after the menses end to rule out any cervical atypical cells and dysplasia. Black mould is unusual presentation in cervix or in menstrual blood. i would insist that you may please attach a picture of the tampon used for a better review
