What Causes Blackish Discoloration Over Neck?
EVALUATION FOR ACANTHOSIS NIGRICANS
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for posting the concern in HCM.
As you have posted above, your 10 year old daughter is having blackish discolouration over neck and flexural skins. A detailed history is needed to come to a diagnosis. From the location of the lesion and available information, I think it may be Acanthosis Nigricans. However, an image of the lesion will be more helpful in diagnosis.
If at all it is Acanthosis Nigricans, A detailed investigation will be needed to identify the underlying cause Of the same.
Your child may need to have the following tests -
Complete blood count, urea, creatinine, electrolytes, LFT
You may consult your local dermatologist as well.
I need some more information
Does your daughter have fever?
Is there any itching over the affected area?
Is there any pain abdomen?
Is there any joint pain?
Is there any history of spontaneous bleeding from any site?
In which area do you live?
Please write back with the information mentioned above and attach a photo of the lesion and report of the tests.
For the time being, you can apply salicylate lotion and urea cream over the affected areas.
