Brief Answer:
Please get ultrasound scan done immediately to assess catheter malposition

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in details.
Foleys catheter must be taken out and a new one re inserted in the proper way. There is a balloon at the tip of the Foleys catheter which is inflated after the tip of the catheter reached the lumen of urinary bladder. This is to keep the Foleys tightly in position and prevent its displacement.

In your case, it is important to make sure that the balloon is inflated in the lumen of the urinary bladder. If it is inflated before the tip enters the bladder then it can cause damage to the narrow urinary passage along the urethra and this might lead to bleeding.

I suggest you get an ultrasound scan done of your urinary bladder after clampint the catheter tube outside. This is to rule out any bleeding in your urinary passage. The new catheter must be removed at once after deflation of the balloon should there be any suspected injury to the urethra.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
