What Causes Bloating, Excessive Gas And Constipation?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Jun 2015
Question: Hello. Ive been a 'gassy person' for years but have always ignored it as I had no discomfort and amusingly enough, almost never any odor. For the last two weeks I have been bloated, gassy, uncomfortable, usually not able to fully evacuate my bowels in one sitting (due to the bloating and gas it would seem) and for most of the last week, Ive been passing bloody foam quite a bit. Any thoughts on what I should be looking into?

Brief Answer:
Can be typhoid or other infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your query.

The symptoms you are having are suggestive of some infection. Such symptoms are seen in typhoid, amoebiasis, etc. It is better to get complete stool analysis done including ova and parasites, widal test, etc. I know such infections are not common in USA but it may have developed after drinking contaminated water from somewhere.

If infections are ruled out, colonoscopy may be done to rule out other serious conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, etc. But these conditions are very less likely keeping in view the recent onset of your symptoms.

See your doctor. Meanwhile drink clean water with low PPM.
