What Causes Blocked Ears When Diagnosed With Flu?

Question: HI Dr my son has come from Australia and has blocked ears, mainly right ear. Before travelling he had minor flu symptoms as well. Now it has been 2 days since his arrival and still blocked ears though Flu is under control.
can you please suggest

Blocked eustachian tube could be due to excess secretions produced due to flu.

I would suggest him to take antihistaminics like Cetrizine 10mg twice daily for two days. This will reduce the secretions and relieve him of blocked ears.

Also, giving steam inhalations with eucalyptus in it will be helpful.
