Question: BLOOD & CLOTTING IN URINE, PAIN IN LEFT SIDE OF STOMACH. AGED 60 FEMALE. PLEASE ADVISE

It would require physical examination of the urine, history of any other relevant symptoms , analysis of the urine at the doctor's office and a sample to lab.
Imaging of the urinary tract may also be needed.
It is called hematuria- blood in the urine
The most common causes are: (1) infection- this may cause pain, passing urine more often, pain on urination, urgency to urinate
(2)stones- a stone in any part of the urinary tract would also cause pain and blood
(3)trauma
(4)side effect of medication eg the use of anti coagulants (warfarin, aspirin etc)
(5)inflammation of the urinary tract due to certain kidney diseases
(6)cancer or other lesions such as cysts
(7)Inflammatory disease such as lupus
It is possible that the blood and pain are related to an infection which would require antibiotic therapy only but this would still need to be assessed.
