Question: My ejaculate is not clear - some dark brown and red - happened a couple of days ago. What might this mean. My urine is clear, with no problems urinating.

Brief Answer:
hematospermia , resolves on its own in many cases

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The dark red appearance would be most likely due to blood.

Blood in the semen is called hematospermia.

In most persons it is self limited (it stops with no intervention). In others may be related to a serious condition

Possible causes are: (1) trauma
(2)infection of some aspect of the genital tract--- prostate, urethra , epididymitis
(3)prostate cancer
(4)cysts involving the seminal vesicles (these are found in the testes and are involved in making semen)
(5)can be due to the presence of stones
(6)high blood pressure
(7)bleeding disorders

As stated, it stops on its own in some persons but if it continues or you are concerned then you should be assessed.

Investigations may include urine analysis (urine examined in the office) and culture (urine sent to lab for culture), blood test for PSA and possibly an ultrasound.

Treatment would depend on the cause found but as mentioned, in some cases, no treatment needed

I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
