What Causes Blood In Stool?
Question: Hi,
I'm male, 51 years old and I receive regular check-ups with my Dr. In fact, my Dr. performed a prostate check on me about a month ago and the results were negative. I'm due in for a colonoscopy on the 8th of May .Besides being pre-diabetic, I'm in great shape, but for at least a couple of months I've experienced pressure and some moderate pain in my lower back and side when I bend or stretch. When I do bend I often find it difficult to stand erect again without experiencing increased pain and discomfort. Up until last week I wrote it off as lack of exercise as did my Dr. however for the last 4 occasions I've went to the bathroom I've seen blood in my stool. I didn't panic because I've seen this in the past due to inflamed hemorrhoids. But this is different. I'm a very physical guy and I do a lot of lifting. I was wondering could this be the result of strain. And if so, what can I do about it short of going to the hospital, which I can't afford to do at this time?

Brief Answer:
Spine dosc herniation can be the reason.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
Blood in your stool (on the stool surface, not mixed with it) is caused by hemorrhoids. Lifting makes hemorrhoids worse, that is why you could see it getting worse.
Colonoscopy however is a goid idea. Just as a precaution.
Your back pain is due to spine isssues. Most likely due to spine disc herniation. Avoiding lifting heavy objects along with Diclophenac and some physical therapy should help. If not, MRI should be done.
Hope this helps.
Regards
