What Causes Blood In Urine While Treating Enlarged Prostate?
I've been recently being diagnosed with having blood in urine by a GP. I first notice blood in the toilet when urinating but did not think it was serious until recently when I notice it has been alot heavier than when I first notice in 2013.i did blood and an ultrasound with results coming back all normal with kidney size being normal with no parenchymal lesion no calculus and no collecting dilatation detected. No dilatation of uterus found with bladder normal. Prostate weighing 67 gm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have passed blood in the urine .
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have any urinary symptoms like increased frequency, nocturia, burning urination etc ?
2) When was your last Ultrasound Scanning of the abdomen done and revealed prostate size of 67 gms?
Blood in the urine is likely to be from the rupture of one of the superficial veins on the surface of enlarged prostate .
Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis,
1) Routine blood work and urine culture
2) Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Endoscopic Examination of bladder (Cystoscopy).
Further treatment will depend upon the results of these tests and final diagnosis,
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

As questioned, urination has a burning effect when I urinate or when I try and force urine out of penis. It feels like the stinging is from the front part of the penis head.
The ultrasound was done 2 days ago with results being uplifted today.
The Total PSA is 0.4ug/L (0.0-2.5) - according to lab test done 3 days ago.
For things 1-4 mentioned, do I have to do the PSA and do a separate scan on pelvis and abdomen?
I also heard the doctor saying that a rectal examination was not required as there was no need according to these ultrasound and lab test but also he did not want to disturb the prostate. Did I hear him correctly? And I was then referred to the urologist...
Greatly appreciate your views and expert advise
Digital Rectal Examination is important .
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for feedback.
Since you have done PSA and Ultrasound Scanning very recently you may not repeat it again .
As regards digital rectal examination it is very important and informative from the point of view of diagnosis,
Please go ahead and consult Urologist and get Cystoscopy done .This will help to come to conclusion and trace out the cause of Hematuria.
Thanks and Regards.
