What Causes Blood In Urine?

Hematuria:
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,
What you are describing is blood in the urine - hematuria. This can be caused by a number of things, some mild, and some very concerning.
Causes include infection anywhere in the urinary system including the bladder and kidneys. A stone in the bladder or kidneys can cause bleeding too. And an enlarged prostate, kidney diseases, and cancer can cause hematuria. Very strenuous exertion can cause blood in the urine sometimes. And certain medications, including penicillin and Cytoxan can sometimes cause bleeding.
If you are otherwise feeling well, you can wait until tomorrow and then call your doctor's office and tell them what is going on. Your doctor will want to start by getting a complete urinalysis and then possibly a culture depending on what the urinalysis shows. If there is no remarkable infection, then your doctor will want to order some imaging studies of the kidneys, bladder, and ureters.
If you are feeling ill with nausea, fever, flank pain (the flanks are the areas behind your waist) then go in to an urgent care clinic or an ER now.
I hope this information helps.
