What Causes Lower Back Pain While On Luvox?
I am experiencing lower back pain that has been diagnosed as muscle spasms or lumbungo by my family doctor.
My tongue feels somewhat numb.
I have had a cold for about 3 weeks and have already been treated with antibiotics in case of infection but a lingering running nose and cough continues though it seems to be slowly getting better.
My family doctor did a urine test and found that all levels were normal except my ketones which he marked at his highest level on the uranalysis chart. He said this was due to the fact that I had only had very little food today. He said my glucose or whatever the sugar part of the urine test was normal.
The last wrinkle in all this is that I discontinued my luvox cold turkey from 300 mg to 0 for about 3 days because I was worried that the flank pain was due to the luvox and I was feeling better from psychotherapy and prayer (and without realizing it; the luvox was helping me too because I got obsessive again). I did take one 100 mg dose somewhere in there over the three days of not taking the medicine at the behest of my mother and did resume normal dosing today 10/30 at the request of my family doctor. This is the same day that he did the urine test.
So I guess I'm just wanting your oppinion if I should go back and get a liver blood test or anything like that due to putting my body through stopping the drug cold turkey like that or even due to taking this drug for two months at the level indicated below or should I simply try to stop worrying. I know you can't really diagnose over the net and that ultimately this is up to me to decide. I just would love any insight and appreciate any help.
No need to go for tests.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM
Luvox or Fluvoxamine is a SSRI drug and is safe to use. The drug is relatively safer drug and helps to control intrusive thoughts and anxiety.
The drug is not known to cause symptoms like flank pain in healthy individuals and is well tolerated. Even if you stopped it cold turkey and then restarted with 100 mg dose even then I don't think you should undergo liver function tests.
Just get your LFT done periodically at 6 months while on this drug and no acute need to go for the test. Raised ketones should not be a matter of concern. If your sugar levels are normal then remain relaxed.
If possible please describe your symptoms in detail right from the time of onset.
Thanks and Take care
You are welcome to ask follow up doubtS.
This could be due to low water in body.

Hello thanks for asking
Fluvoxamine can marginally raise the levels but these are not clinically significant. So no need to worry if Fluvoxamine is considered.
Single test showing raised ketones with normal sugar could be a normal finding. This could be due to dehydration.
Thanks.
