What Causes Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jan 2017
Question: Twice in the past 10 days, I have had some blood in my urine. Not actually when just urinating, but after a bowel movement. At the end of the movement some droplets of blood are mixed with residual urine. I have considered a UTI, but have no real pain.

1) Do you have any voiding urinary symptoms like frequency for urination ,urgency.nocturia etc which are most common due to enlarged prostate which is very common at this age

The hematuria at the end of bowel movements can be from a superficial veins on the surface of congested prostate .

I would suggest you to consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

In the meanwhile you can start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and Tomsulosin once daily under guidance of your treating doctor.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you

Thanks and Regards.
