What Causes Blurred Vision While On Losartan?

default
Posted on Fri, 23 Oct 2015
Question: I've been taking 50 mg of Losartan daily for about five months. Shortly after I began taking it, my vision became intermittently blurred, and I seem to sometimes see shadows. My optometrist has checked my eyes and says they're fine and he knows of no cases where Losartan has caused these types of vision problems, yet I read that it can (rarely) cause myopia and narrow lens glaucoma. Am I correct to be concerned? I'm 37 years old.

Brief Answer:
Not related to glaucoma, most probably oscillations in blood pressure...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Now, if Losartan had caused Glaucoma, the ophthalmologist would have detected it. If not, it means your blurred vision is not due to glaucoma.

What I suspect in your case is that you might be experiencing oscillations in blood pressure (bp). I advise to check your bp when your feel your eyes get blurred, and record the results for future reference. You might need adjustment of dosage after reviewing the bp results.

Hope it was of help! Let me know if you need further assistance.
