What Causes Body Chill Along With Fever After A Laproscopy?
Question: Doctor my wife underwent laproscopy for endometriosis and culture report revealed MOTT infection. And she is taking AKT 4 since 20 days as prescribed by the doctor.
Now she is feeling chill, fever and vomiting. She is also feeling weakness in the body and heavy and drowsy head. She has pain on the right side of the neck with little bit swelling. She is finding everything tasteless and bitter. She is also feeling sleepy. Are these symptoms normal while taking AKT4? Does she need to take any other medication with AKT4? Can she take paracetamol or painkiller during AKT4 treatment? Please suggest us what to do as we reside in Dubai, UAE.

It is very likely that your wife is having the side effects of AKT4.
Endometriosis is not caused by MOTT.
The organism cultured could have been due to a contamination.

Hello Can i take akt4 before or after lunch or dinner

Rifampicin before breakfast.

I am glad that she does not have the AKT4 induced hepatitis.
The Rifampicin ( Capsule) in AKT4 has to be taken on an empty stomach and so it is best taken before breakfast.
The other tablets can be taken after food.

MOTT is found normally on the skin and doesn't cause any significant infection in normal people.
It can however cause infection in people who are treated with certain medicines that decrease the immunity. It is not a cause of endometriosis. In your case it was probably contamination of the culture specimen. This is the reason why your doctor in XXXXXXX who probably had seen other cases with such contamination advised you against treatment. I tend to agree with the doctor.

If it is a lymph node, you require to have FNAC under ultrasound guidance. If that shows that you have TB, then you require to take AKT4 or any other regime of anti tuberculosis treatment.
