What Causes Brown Urine?

excess bile, certain foods, kidney disease, side effect of some meds
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Brown urine can be related to foods used but may also be due to other causes such as excess bilirubin (bile) in the urine due to liver disease, side effect of medication or kidney disease.
The foods that can cause this problem are beets, aloe, rhubarb. If you use a lot of any of these, reducing may help.
Medications such as some antibiotics and some laxatives eg senna. Metformin is not known to have this effect.
A urine test (can check for bile in the urine) and blood test would be required if it continues. The blood tests would be to check kidney and liver function to make sure that they are ok.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
