What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge While Having A IUD?

Question: I am having a strange discharge. I am sexually active and have not used protection with my current partner. He is concerned he may have caught an STD but says he was only sexually active with one other person. And doubts I got it because he had sex with her a day before with me. My labia is swollen yet I have not had sex for 2 weeks. And today I started to notice a brown discharge. I used a cotton swab to see and it was very brown. I have an IUD. And other than that the only other important information is that I'm about to go on my period. Should I be worried?
Brief Answer:
Likely vaginal infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Abnormal brown discharge and swollen labia are suggestive of vaginal infection.
IUD or unprotected intercourse, both can cause vaginal infection leading to such symptoms.
I will suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated including a vaginal swab examination and get treated with appropriate antibiotics.
