What Causes Bruised Penile Shaft After A Dorsal Slit-operation?
Question: Hi.
Following a dorsal slit-op due to lichen sclerosis two days ago, my penile shaft is heavily bruised.
I can also feel a rather large bump on the left side, close to the root/base, where during performing anesthesia, the doctor vigorously poked several times with the needle. If erection occurs (like when asleep) the throbbing is severe and quite painful in the bump. Close to no pain in the slit itself, but a little bit of bleeding in a spot where a rather large vein used to be.
Question: is the heavy bruising normal (more black than blue/purple), and how long until it goes away?
Thank you for your time.
Brief Answer:
May last 2 to 3 days.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for using Healthcare Magic.
The injection at the base of your penis was a penile nerve block. There are veins in this area and it is likely that the needle has hit a vein and caused some bleeding or hematoma. This is not serious but will result in a lump which will clear up in a few days. In the meantime, there will be a bruise which will be sensitive.
Painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen will ease the pain.
I hope this is of help. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
