What Causes Bubble Feeling In Lower Left Abdomen?
Following possibilities might have to be evaluated clinically
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. There are some clinical possibilities at your age which might require investigation in case of a left upper abdomen discomfort.
(i) There is the lung base on the left side which is separated from the abdomen by the diaphragm. Any condition like infection of the lungs or a minimal fluid collection might give rise to discomfort in the region.
(ii) At times the diaphragm might get thinned out due to the presence of diaphragmatic eventration or a small diaphramatic hernia. These are benign conditions and might cause slight discomfort in left upper abdomen.
(iii) There can be acid reflux in stomach or a hiatus hernia due to which there might be a sense of discomfort which is more on bending forwards and when fasting.
(iv) The spleen is an organ in the left upper abdomen which might get enlarged and appear as a mass like feeling.
(v) There are also conditions involving the left kidney, tail of pancreas and weakness in abdominal wall, which might appear as a mass like large bubble in the abdomen.
(vi) The large bowel also courses along the left upper abdomen but since you have no bowel complaints therefore this appears less likely.
2. Since it has been there for two weeks, it is suggested to consult your doctor without delay and get clinically examined and basic investigations like chest X ray, ultrasound scan abdomen and pelvis, complete blood count and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy done if required.
3. Most likely it is a benign condition but requires detection and confirmation since the symptoms are not specific and we have many conditions that might appear similarly.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
