What Causes Bump On Chin?

Question: my son who is 16 has a quarter size bump on his chin.

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query. I have also looked at the picture. Seems like an acne nodule. Another possibility is of sebaceous cyst

I would like to gather more information from you

-How long it has been since you noticed?
-Does he have acne elsewhere?
-Is it painful?

It has been 3 weeks, it is not painful and he has acne on his face

Hi

As I mentioned before this is an acne nodule.

Ideally I would have treated it by injection of a triamcinolone acetonide (a steroid) in a concentration of 2.5 mg/ ml, 2-4 units, with a 26 G needle. Thereafter, it would settle down within 48 hours.

I would suggest that you take him to a dermatologist who would administer it. The steroid has to injected into the nodule. The procedure is simple and there is only a minor pain.
