Brief Answer:
Benign soft tissue swelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Welcome to HCM forum.
Thanks for posting to us.

It will be more useful if you can give few more details. Kindly go through the following questions.
1) What is exact location-front or back, and whether overlying any joint?
2) Are there any signs of inflammation like pain, tenderness, edema, surrounding redness or heat?
3) Is the swelling freely movable beneath the skin, or does it feels like fixed to the skin?
4) Any other symptoms like itching or discolouration of the overlying skin?
5) Do you remember any events like trauma or insect bite?

The possibilities are a soft tissue infection or soft tissue swellings like sebaceous cyst, dermoid, callosities, foreign body granuloma etc.

Waiting for your reply.
Thank you.

1. It is on the left side of my left middle finger below the middle joint. 2. There is no sign of inflammation. 3. I am not in pain. I found the bump about two weeks ago when I was rubbing my fingers. It is freely movable and slips from side to side when I apply pressure. 5. There is no itching or discoloration. 5. I have not had any trauma to the area.

Brief Answer:
Only observation is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hey there,
Thanks for the information given.

From the description, this indicates a benign soft tissue swelling. Possibilities, as we discussed are lipoma, dermoid, tendon ganglion etc(these are actually uncommon in this area).
Anyhow,no active intervention needed at this moment.just keep an eye on the size, and other features. If it enlarges or causes any symptoms , you can seek the help of an orthopedist for management.

Hope now I have answered your query.
If you have no further questions, you can close the discussion and rate the answer.
Wishing you good health.
Thank you.
