default
Posted on Mon, 20 Apr 2015
Question: 4 days ago I hot vomited hot acid from indigestion I had. Drank a lot of acidic juice that day plus tuna fish is a big no no for me. I now have bumps on both sides of my tongue that burn and my mouth feels dry. Is it possible I burned it? I have not taken any medications at all and no food allergies. It seems after I eat anything it gets inflamed.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are due to Glossitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Thanks for providing clinical picture , it really helps. There is definitely glossitis with baldness of tongue due to loss of tongue papilla. The cause is likely to be due to following

1. Underlying Iron and multivitamin deficiency

2. Acid reflux could be just one of the precipitating factor

I would suggest you the following

1. Complete blood count to rule out underlying anaemia

2. Oral Multivitamin supplements will be helpful in relieving the synptoms

3. Acid suppression by Pantoprozole will be helpful.

4. Oral iron if there is underlying anaemia

5. Avoid spicy food

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care

I appreciate that tremendously. I also suffer from anxiety and thought that might have something to do with it as well. I do have a slight iron and magnesium deficiency as well. I haven't taken a multi in years - I will go get them and start right away. I am assuming my poor judgment with foods over the past few months and hardly any veggies has made it worse. Thanks again.
