What Causes Burning And Tingling Sensation In Feet At Night?

Question: I am a male, 48 yrs old. For about the last 2 years or so I have been dealing with several symptoms that cause quite a bit of discomfort. My feet(both) burn, tingle and hurt, mostly a night when I try to sleep. I have moderate dull aching pain in my shoulders, elbows and knees(my knees crackle and pop when I go up and down stairs). I feel tired alot and have difficulty staying asleep. I frequently sweat in my sleep. I often feel like a walking ball of imflamation. I have been tested for diabetes numerous times with negative results each time. I was prescribed Cymbalta about a year ago for the nerve pain. Although it was effective for the pain, the side effects and worse, the discontinuation of the medication were very difficult to deal with. Now in just the last couple days, I have developed a raised, white bump on my tonge. I am at a loss for what to do. The doctors I have been to, just seem to want to treat the symptoms. I am too young to feel this way. Please help.

The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible neuropathy. The symptoms are very typical of it. And the relief with cymbalta says the same.

I think it is important to look for the cause of the neuropathy. We will have to treat the cause of the neuropathy rather than the symptoms of the same.

The ideal way to do that is getting a nerve biopsy. Before that, get Nerve conduction study of the 4 limbs to confirm neuropathy first .

You will need a neurologist locally to do all this.
