Brief Answer:
Does not sound right.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

Burning and tingling feelings are suggestive of nerve disease, rather than muscle disease. So, the doctor's explanation does not seem right.

The possibilities include disease of nerves of skin (peripheral neuropathy) or pinched nerves in lower back (due to slipped disc).

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
