What Causes Burning Micturition Post Protected Intercourse?
I did a urine analysis 4 times all came normal. No white or red blood cells. Chlamydia/mycoplasma/ureaplasma twice came negative, gonorrhea also came negative. Urine culture twice and seimen culture once also showed no growth.
I took levofloxacin 500mg 1 once a day 3 weeks on, 2 weeks off, 2 weeks on again. The symptoms were relieved but not cured, I have only a burning sensation after urination. I still have a burning sensation after urination. A month and a half later I took Doxycycline hyclate 100 mg twice a day for 10 days. Symptoms were a bit relieved during the coarse but came back before finishing the coarse. I have noticed that starting the 7th day of my Doxycycline, I started to have very heavy night sweats. After researching I found that it could be one of the early symptoms of HIV. Am I overthinking it? Could it be due to Doxycycline? What about the next step since even Doxycycline didn't cure my burning sensation?
POssibility of Genito-urinary TB needs to be ruled out

Thanks for your query at HCM!
I am Dr. Sheetal Verma, Infectious disease specialist answering your query!
I have realized you are having burning micturition and antibiotics are not helping you.
I suggest must not think of HIV/AIDS as it doesn't really present like this.
I would like you to know that sterile pyuria with such symptoms are sometimes common in genitourinary tuberculosis. Thats not very common either, but fits the profile of symptoms you have better than HIV.
To rule this out. You must collect early morning urine sample and send the sample for urine ZN staining and culture for Mycobacterium tuberculosis and routine aerobic/anaerobic infections.
Remember collect midstream urine in morning.
You sometimes can need repeat tests to establish aetiology.
Drink plenty of water.
You must also get USG abdomen done to rule out stones, etc.
As for unprotected sex you can get ELISA testing for HIV(p24 and antibody) based test done for your own peace of mind.
Take care!
You can follow up.
Happy to take more queries.
Get the tests done.
Detailed Answer:
No there is no problem in getting the tests done.
Don't worry.
Sometimes in some patients consecutive days sample at least three have to be tested as sometimes bacteria are shed intermittently.
Get your routine urine and culture sensitivity test for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria also repeated.
Follow-up with reports.
I have also seen that the cocktail of drugs which you have taken were of short duration.
In urinary infections at least 2 weeks and prolonged treatment is needed.
Take care.
I'm starting to freak out after reading online about STDs. If a girl who had dental stitches gave me oral, could that transmit HIV if she was bleeding?
Also, if i used an oil based lubricant for protected vaginal sex, could that transmit HIV? I read oil based lubricants could tamper with the effectiveness of a condom.
Yes rare chances of HIV infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi...
The chances are very least from such sought of sexual exposure to contract HIV infection.
Oral sex is less risky to transmit HIV than anal or vaginal sex. Yes there is possibility that HIV can enter through open cuts and sores, or possibly by infecting the lining of the mouth if bleeding. There have been few such documented cases of individuals getting HIV through their mouth. But I repeat that chance of catching HIV from oral sex is very low, but other STDs, in particular gonorrhea and chlamydia can occur easily.
Do you have any abnormal discharge from the penis or burning when they urinate.
I suggest that you can get HIV combo ELISA TEST done and urine test. If any you can visit doctor or nurse can test your urine for both chlamydia and gonorrhea. You can also get tested for syphilis if you are not sure of your partner sexual history. These STDs can be cured with medicine if they are treated early. Regarding the other question I suggest never use oil-based lubricants they can damage latex and cause latex condoms to tear more easily. If your condom did not rupture there is less chances of exposure. Practice the safety measures in future and for this exposure for your psychological satisfaction get the tests done.
Take care.
