What Causes Burning Sensation At The End Of Urination?
I am experiencing some mild to moderate pain when urinating (at the end of the process). I would describe the pain as sharp. There is no burning and I do not have abdominal pain. I am suspecting a bladder infection/UTI, but am unsure at present. If that seems to be the case, are there any non-antibiotic treatment options available OTC? Last month I was treated for bacterial vaginosis and would just like to avoid taking any more antibiotics if it can be helped (plus, additional personal reasons).
It might be worth mentioning that this past Friday I had Paragard inserted. Not sure if this matters, but thought I should mention it.
Could be mostly due to infection of Bladder(Cystitis)
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query ,
Burning at the end of urination (Strangury) is due to infection of bladder .(Cystitis).
Please get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.
There are two common causes for cystitis
1) Bacterial infection
2) Non bacterial cystitis
If urine culture reveals bacterial infection there is no option rather than taking appropriate antibiotic .
Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.
Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.
However if urine culture is negative you can take Barley water along with urinary anti spamodic like Flavoxate twice daily ..
Ensure to drink more water .To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.
